The box truck was off the road upon arrival and the male driver was attended to by East Moline Fire Department EMS and Genesis Ambulance. The driver was removed from the vehicle and then transported to Genesis Hospital-Illini in Silvis, where he later died from his injuries. The Rock Island County Coroner’s Office pronounced him dead and his identity is being withheld pending notification of family.

Later, accident reconstruction work was conducted by Illinois State Police troopers. The driver of the semi-trailer was uninjured and received a citation for violating the minimum speed limit.

While first responders were working on that accident scene, another accident occurred about 40 minutes later east of the accident scene, police said. When an approaching semi-trailer slowed down due to the accident scene, a limousine driven by a woman crashed into the rear of the semi-trailer.

East Moline Fire Department and Hillsdale Fire Department personnel, who were on scene at the first accident, treated the driver’s injuries. She was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Genesis Hospital-Illini in Silvis, where she also died.

She was pronounced dead by the Rock Island County Coroner’s Office and her identity is being withheld pending notification of family. The Illinois State Police also conducted accident reconstruction work for this accident scene. The driver and passenger of the semi were uninjured and there are no citations related to this accident at this time.
