Mayor Dickens’ Summer Youth Jobs Program Deadline Approaches

It serves residents ages 14 to 24 and aims to provide jobs and internship opportunities to Atlanta’s youth. According to the city’s brochure, 14-15 year olds will need a work permit. They must present their Social Security card, valid proof of residency, and a state or school-issued photo ID. Apply here before 5 p.m. on Wednesday May 29.

Dickens is expected to host a signing day Wednesday with employers Coca-Cola, the YMCA of Metro Atlanta, Atlanta Public Schools and the Atlanta Fire Rescue Department, which stepped up to offer employment this been part of the program.

The event will also bring together young people from past years who will talk about their experiences.

In 2023, a SYEP report was released indicating that the top industries in which Atlanta youth were hired were construction, education, and food and beverage, with most participants being Black girls.
