Brady’s philosophy: “Everyone eats”

As Buffalo enters its second week of OTA practices, the offensive focus is on intentional teaching and learning. Although practices are conducted without pads or tackles, it is still a vital time for players to understand offensive terminology and get a feel for how the game progresses when the ball is snapped .

“You have to be really intentional, because at the end of the day, there’s only one guy in the receiver room (Khalil Shakir) who even caught a ball from Josh in a game,” Brady said. “And so every representative in practice, the individual, there is such intention behind what we do and why we do it.”

Brady shared that the way he approaches Buffalo’s offensive makeover is not to strip it for certain plays and start again, but rather to use what has worked well in the past, add new elements and d learn the strengths of each player.

“There will be some elements that I believe in, but it’s more about who we have on our football team and the guys and what they can do well and we’re going to do it,” Brady said. .

At the heart of things, Brady continues to tailor the offense to a particular person.

“At the end of the day, it’s Josh Allen’s offense,” offensive coordinator Joe Brady said.

According to Brady, that means making sure play decisions reflect Allen’s strengths and also incorporate the strengths of the receivers, tight ends, running backs and offensive line on a given play.

“Your offense is Josh Allen’s offense, but it’s also about what your players do well, and so this is the time right now that we’re experimenting with some things like ‘hey, can this guy do This? Can’t this guy do this?’ ?’ And we will continue to evolve and in September, we hope we will have a good feeling,” Brady explained.

Two players who are key to Brady’s offensive overhaul, TE Dalton Kincaid and WR Khalil Shakir, both shared their thoughts so far.

“The offense is going to hit so many people this year,” Kincaid said after practice, “that it’s going to help everyone.”

Shakir added: “(Brady) tells us all the time that ‘everyone eats’.”
