Commanders kicker Brandon McManus accused in civil suit of sexual assault

ASHBURN, Va. (DC News Now) — ESPN said on Monday that allegations of sexual assault are being made against the new kicker of the Washington Commanders, which are said to have taken place during his time with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

According to ESPN, two women filed a lawsuit in Duval County Circuit Court accusing Brandon McManus of assaulting them. The report also said the Jaguars “failed to provide a safe environment” for the football team’s employees.

The women demanded one million dollars and a jury trial.

A spokesperson for the Washington Commanders issued the following statement to DC News Now on Monday:

Today we were informed of the civil lawsuit filed against Brandon McManus on May 24. We take allegations of this nature very seriously and are investigating the matter. We are in contact with the league office and Brandon’s representative and will refrain from commenting further at this time.
