Houston lawyer shot and killed at McDonald’s while trying to calm customer

A Houston lawyer was killed in a shooting at a McDonald’s and the suspected shooter remains at large, police said.

The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences has identified Jeffrey Limmer as the man killed at the Houston McDonald’s on Saturday, May 4. Limmer was Lewis Brisbois’ attorney, according to the firm’s website.

The Houston Police Department said Limmer, 46, was killed by a man who fled the scene in a blue pickup truck.

Citing detectives, KTRK reported that Limmer was trying to calm down an angry client before an altercation ensued after the client became angry with the lawyer. Police said Limmer pushed the customer to the ground outside the store before the customer pulled a gun out of his car and shot Limmer, the outlet reported.

“He loved his family and friends fiercely,” Jennifer Thomas, Limmer’s sister, told the station. “Always laugh, make jokes and love life.”

Thomas also told KTRK that his family was proud that his brother stood up for McDonald’s employees and acted as a “good Samaritan.”

According to Limmer’s biography on the Lewis Brisbois website, he graduated from the University of Texas at Austin before attending law school at South Texas College of Law. He also enjoyed spending time outdoors, according to the site.
