Ranking the five best defenses the Buffalo Bills will face in 2024

The 2024 Buffalo Bills season will be a daunting one. They will have some pretty strong defenses to contend with. These five defenses alone could be among the top 10 defenses in the league when all is said and done.

It’s a tall order for this Bills offense, which is operating without some key pieces they had in 2023, namely Stefon Diggs, Mitch Morse and Gabe Davis. They added some pieces in free agency and the draft, but they’re going to miss the leadership of the players they lost. Especially against these high-end defenses that could challenge this new offense the Bills will deploy in 2024. Here are the top 5 defenses the Bills will face this year.

The 2023 Baltimore Ravens were a force of nature and were arguably a top 3 defense all last year. They dismantled the 49ers and Dolphins late last year, and those two offenses were among the most high-flying offenses in the league.

One of the main reasons they aren’t higher on this list for 2024 is because they lost some key defensive talents. One of those pieces was their defensive coordinator, Mike Macdonald, who is one of the best young defensive minds in this league leaving the vacant head coaching position in Seattle.

Along with Macdonald, the Ravens lost Patrick Queen to free agency, and not just any team, but to their bitter rival, the Pittsburgh Steelers. It’s a big blow to the middle of their defense. Not only did they lose their star linebacker in Queen, but they also lost Geno Stone who was arguably their best ball-hawking safety alongside their other star safety in Kyle Hamilton. Further still, they lost Jadeveon Clowney, who, although out of his prime, still contributed greatly to their defensive front.

Amidst all these losses, the Ravens should still be a scary defense in 2024. They still have John Harbaugh who is a well established coach in this league who won a Super Bowl with this organization. Expect the Ravens to be a challenge early on for the Bills.
