  • Comedian Nimesh Patel at Houston Improv | From Friday to Sunday – The Emmy-nominated writer has risen to the ranks on some of comedy’s biggest stages thanks to impeccable joke writing and prolific production, and he’ll arrive in Houston for five shows over the weekend. Patel recently appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallonand before that, he debuted late night on Late Night with Seth Meyers. $60 and up. Hours vary.
  • Island Vybz Reggae Fest at Beach Central in Galveston | Friday Saturday – Head to the heart of the island along the seawall for this two-day celebration of Caribbean culture, music and community spirit. Expect live entertainment, food, dancing and more. $20 and up. Hours vary.
  • Comedian Andrew Orolfo at Riot Comedy Club | Friday Saturday A San Francisco comedy staple, Andrew Orolfo has been featured on festival stages across the country and can be heard on Sirius XM and seen in Netflix and Comedy Central specials. $20 and up. Hours vary.
  • Solar dust at POST Houston | Saturday Sunday – Attend this brand new exhibition that merges light, sound and technology to create an experience of particles floating in space. Making its U.S. debut, the work by Italian art collective Quiet Ensemble also serves to preview POST’s new art space/nightclub experience, Art Club. $7. Hours vary.

  • Memorial Day Weekend at the Marriott Marquis Houston – Throughout the weekend, you can join the party on the iconic Texas-shaped lazy river atop the sixth floor of the Downtown Mariott Marquis. DJs will be on hand to set the mood and you can enjoy some sips, sun, and Memorial Day fun with scenic views. Day passes are available for non-guests at $90 and up. From noon to 9 p.m.
  • Supa Soca Memorial Day Pool & Day Party at Encore – Grab your best swimsuit and partygoers to join the biggest Afro-Caribbean pool party of the summer in Midtown. Free entry until 4 p.m.; $10 and more after that. 2 p.m. to 10 p.m.
  • Latin House Pool Party at Space Cowboy – The Heights House Hotel Pool Bar celebrates Memorial Day in style. Come enjoy a full day of Latin house music performed by a team of DJs, plus food and drink specials, vendors, mermaids in the pool and much more. $15 and up. 2 p.m. to 11:30 p.m.

  • Comedian Bob Biggerstaff at Houston Improv – The Houston comedian returns to the stage after a journey to free himself from colorectal cancer, which means a hilarious evening of butt-related material heads to improv. $20 and up. 7:30 p.m.
  • Tuesday Gigante at The Secret Group – The bi-monthly comedy show brings together some of the city’s funniest Hispanic comedians at the EaDo comedy club, performing in English. While there, enjoy drink specials on Mexican beer and tequila. $5. 8 p.m.
