Ronald Acuña Jr. leaves game with apparent knee injury

The Atlanta Braves may have suffered another significant injury. Ronald Acuña Jr. led off Sunday’s game with a double to right center. With Marcell Ozuna at the plate, Acuña appeared to take third and changed his mind. He collapsed to the ground after changing direction and was holding his left knee.

Trainers quickly tended to Acuña and appeared to look at his left knee. Acuña tore the ACL in his right knee during the 2021 season. He was eventually helped to his feet and left the field under his own power with a considerable limp.

Here is another view of the descent from Acuña.

The Braves appear to be close to getting Austin Riley and Sean Murphy back on Monday, but losing Acuña for a significant period of time would be a major blow. Jarred Kelenic replaced Acuña in the lineup with Adam Duvall sliding to right field.

Acuña appeared in 49 games and hit .250/.351/.365 with four home runs and a 109 wRC+.
