Parkway Drive shooting in Atlanta: a woman criticizes

Authorities have identified a possible suspect.

ATLANTA — A woman is in critical condition after being shot multiple times in Atlanta Friday night.

Police responded shortly before 9:30 p.m. to the 300 block of Parkway Drive Northeast in the Old Fourth Ward neighborhood after receiving calls about a woman who had been shot. The location is not far from Central Park, between Ralph McGill Boulevard and North Avenue.

When officers arrived on scene, they found the woman suffering from a gunshot wound, but she was alert and breathing. Police said the 34-year-old woman was shot multiple times.

Emergency services took the woman to hospital for treatment, where she is currently considered critical.

Authorities have identified a possible suspect, but police have not yet released details about what may have led to the shooting. Video from the scene appeared to show police interviewing witnesses and entering a home.

No other information, including that of the person detained, was released.
