A section of Highway 290 closed Saturday to repair Houston’s stormwater plants

HOUSTON – All lanes on a portion of US Highway 290 will be closed in both directions on Saturday, May 25 beginning at 9 a.m.

The closure will occur in the area of US 290 and Kingswood Lane.

The purpose of this temporary shutdown is to allow CenterPoint Energy to repair transmission lines that were significantly damaged during severe storms on May 16.

“We also want to apologize for the inconvenience this closure will cause to the community during this time and thank them in advance for their patience while we complete this important restoration work,” read a statement from CenterPoint Energy.

The lanes are expected to be reopened approximately 30 minutes later once repairs are completed.
