Wegmans and Buffalo Bills are hosting an allergen-friendly food drive. What there is to know

Local food pantries will soon be able to fill their shelves with an influx of food allergy-friendly items for families who need them.

Wegmans is partnering with the Buffalo Bills to collect allergen-free and special diet foods to support food-insecure families with food allergies and special dietary needs.

“From a mother’s perspective, I can tell you that this is greatly affecting our family and many others. Hard lessons have been learned over the years and as parents, there’s rarely a time when you don’t think about them,” says Jamie McDermott, wife of Bills head coach Sean McDermott and defender food allergies.

“We are very grateful to Wegmans and this partnership. This means a lot to us because we know we are not the only family affected by food allergies, and if we can help just one family by making it easier for them to access safe food for their family, it will be worth it. . »

When and where the allergen-friendly food drive will take place

Through Saturday, May 18, customers at Wegmans stores located in Rochester, Buffalo, Syracuse and Southern Tier can purchase a selection of allergen-free and special diet foods to donate to each store’s local food bank and their agencies members.

You can drop off items in donation bins located at the front of each store.
