Details: This Piedmont Park music festival is an Atlanta Memorial Day weekend tradition, and this year it’s welcoming a very special guest: André 3000 will perform from his New blue sun album Monday evening. Spend all three days for great live music, an artist market, and plenty of food and drink options. The best part: it’s a free event.

Details: Don your best cosplay for this annual celebration of anime, gaming, and comics. More than 50,000 people are expected to attend GWCC during the four-day event. This year’s guests include voice actors Jodi Benson (The little Mermaid), Beau Billinslea (Cowboy Bebop, Naruto) and Steve Blum (Cowboy Bebop, Star Wars Rebels).

Alpharetta Street Arts Festival
When: May 25-26, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Or: The Grove at Wills Park, Alpharetta
Cost: Free
Details: Find new art for your home, pretty jewelry, or a great graduation or Father’s Day gift at this arts festival, featuring more than 100 vendors. There will also be food trucks and activities for children like face painting and sand art.

Atlanta Caribbean Carnival
When: May 27, 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.
Or: West Side Park
Cost: AG: $40; VIP: $160
Details: This annual celebration of Caribbean culture features live music, Caribbean food, dancing and an extravagant and colorful parade of bands, which begins at the Moores Mill Center and stretches four miles to Westside Park. Atlanta’s ties to the Caribbean run so deep that we devoted an entire issue to it last year, so be sure to read up before you head to Carnival.

Or: Puppetry Arts Center
Cost: $19.80 to $30
Details: This weekend-only all-ages show, presented by Taiwan’s Puppet & its Double Theater, is based on Oscar Wilde’s story about a giant who learns the meaning of friendship and generosity. On Friday, a special reception will be held in partnership with the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, featuring Taiwanese drinks and a preview of a new pop-up exhibition of Taiwanese puppets. All tickets include entry to the Center Museum.
