Shiner, Texas-based Spoetzl Brewery is donating $100,000 to the American Red Cross to support relief efforts in Houston, Texas following recent devastating storms. Shiner is the famous brewer of Shiner Bock.

“We are saddened to see the destruction in the Houston area,” said Tom Fiorenzi, director of brewery and distillery operations for Shiner. “The Shiner family believes it is important to support the efforts of the American Red Cross as they help our Texas neighbors recover.”

Following similar natural disasters, Shiner Beers and Spoetzl Brewery have donated funds to charities providing relief services in the most affected areas. Shiner supported similar relief efforts following unforeseen disasters earlier this year, following the wildfires in North Texas, after the tornadoes in the southern United States and the Ohio Valley in 2021 and many other natural disasters over the past 20 years:

In September 2020, Shiner helped with relief efforts following Hurricane Laura in Louisiana.

  • In 2018, Shiner supported relief efforts in Florida and Georgia following Hurricane Michael, as well as the Carolinas and Virginia following Hurricane Florence.
  • In 2017, Shiner supported areas impacted by Hurricane Harvey in Texas, Hurricane Irma in Florida, and Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico.
  • Prior to that, Shiner assisted in relief efforts following catastrophic flooding in central Louisiana in 2016, Hurricane Sandy in 2012, Hurricane Ike in 2008, and Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Spoetzl Brewery was founded in Shiner, Texas (population 2,069) in 1909, brewing beer according to old world traditions and recipes for the many German and Czech settlers of Central Texas. Since then, the brewery has grown into one of the largest independent craft breweries in the country, with operations in all 50 states and Mexico.
