National Weather Service in La Crosse confirms tornadoes in Buffalo and Winona counties

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – The National Weather Service in La Crosse has confirmed EF1 tornadoes in Buffalo and Winona counties.

A farmer with a large livestock barn in the town of Belvidere lost two barns and suffered significant damage to his home and other property, according to a release from Buffalo County.

Buffalo County officials released the following statement:

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – The National Weather Service in La Crosse has confirmed an EF1 tornado in Winona County.

The National Weather Service in La Crosse says: “The tornado started just east-northeast of St. Charles with pockets of trees and farm buildings damaged as it progressed northeast. East. It intensified to EF1 strength and passed through the west side of Rollingstone, where it destroyed some farm buildings. Tree damage related to the storm surge was noted in Rollingstone. The tornado eventually weakened as it crossed the Mississippi River and dissipated in Merrick State Park in Buffalo County, Wisconsin.

EAU CLAIRE, Wis. (WEAU) – A storm survey is planned for Winona and Buffalo counties.

The National Weather Service La Crosse office will conduct a study of storms in Winona County, Minnesota, Buffalo County, Wisconsin, and possibly further afield, according to the National Weather Service in La Crosse. East.
