Houston Food Bank to Host Event on SNAP Replacement Benefits |  Community

WHAT: Houston Food Bank The Community Assistance Program (CAP) is organizing a free SNAP Replacement Benefits Event has help the community access important resources in the following recent storms.

Form 1855, used to notify Health and Human Services (HHSC) of the amount of SNAP (perishable food) benefits that were destroyed due to a power outage, is available to households currently receiving SNAP assistance . At the event, Houston Food Bank community navigators will help attendees apply for replacement SNAP through this form. Once processed, HHSC will return replacement benefits to the beneficiary’s card.

Community browsers will also be available for:

Application assistance for SNAP, Medicaid, TANF, CHIP, Medicare Savings Program, Healthy Texas Women

References for utility assistance, rental assistance, housing assistance, food pantries, legal aid, education, employment

IMPORTANT: Please bring the following documents: ID, Social Security number, proof of income (past 3 months), proof of residency (that you live in Texas), proof of housing costs, immigration documents and number file, if applicable.
