Houston City Council extends storm disaster declaration to 12 months

The city of Houston has officially extended its disaster declaration for 12 months following last week’s devastating storms.

The City Council approved the resolution Wednesday to extend the declaration. Normally, the declaration lasts only one week, local authorization being required to extend it.

This allows the city to continue to access state and federal funds as the recovery process continues.
