Cortland Hires VP of Research in Waterton

Atlanta-based apartment investor and developer Cortland has hired Lee Everett, Waterton’s vice president of research and strategy, as head of research.

In his new role, Everett will work with Cortland’s management, investment and capital markets teams to formulate the firm’s overall research strategy, with a focus on macroeconomic trends, supply-side dynamics and residential demand and market selection. He will also advise on individual investment and portfolio management decisions.

Prior to Waterton, Everett served as director of market planning for Benchmark Senior Living. He has also worked at CoStar Portfolio Strategy, The Concord Group Real Estate Advisors and Boston Financial Investment Management.

“It is crucial for Cortland to stay ahead of future trends affecting the broader economy and the multifamily sector,” Jason Kern, Cortland’s president of investment management, said in a press release. “Given his extensive experience in assessing the impact of macro and microeconomic factors on the real estate industry, we look forward to seeing the positive impact Lee will have on our business.”
