Storm aftermath hits Buffalo County as cleanup continues | News

BUFFALO COUNTY, Wis. – (WXOW) – A series of severe storms and a brief tornado struck parts of Buffalo County early Tuesday evening, causing damage to several building structures and numerous trees.

“Many roads were 100 percent blocked with downed trees and power lines,” said Lee Engfer, Buffalo County administrative coordinator.

Engfer adds that the community was quick to help, using chainsaws and other miscellaneous equipment to clear the roads.

One resident, Howard Misch, came out of his basement shelter after the storm but found that the pole shed and another livestock building had been badly damaged. The main power line pole on his property was also torn down and 250 head of cattle were left to roam free.

“That’s about all we did last night,” Misch said. “Round up, fed and confined the livestock.”

Misch also found the community quick to help him, helping with the work of rounding up the herd.

“It’s a true testament to the high quality of people who live in our area,” Engfer said.

Engfer added that cleanup and damage assessment efforts will continue for a few days.
