Houston parents say 1-year-old suffered second-degree burns at daycare

Jasmine and Travis Bowie are searching for answers after discovering a second-degree burn on their 1-year-old’s foot.

They say that on April 27, they picked up their child from the “Children Are Our Future” daycare on Sabo Road in Houston.

Jasmine says she noticed her daughter was acting strange: “I knew True was in pain, she was screaming, crying her eyes out, I knew something was wrong with her,” she said.

She says she then saw the large blister on her daughter’s foot and took her to urgent care.

“We were both a little frustrated, but we tried to keep our cool, we just want to get to the bottom of it,” Travis said.

They say they asked the daycare director for footage from that day, but have not yet received it. They called the police and filed a report.

Houston police and the Texas Department of Family Services both confirm they are investigating the incident.

“If I could sum it up in a few words, I would say this whole situation is heartbreaking. I just want to know what happened to my daughter? What happened at that daycare,” Jasmine said.

FOX 26 Houston is now on the FOX LOCAL app available via Apple TV, Amazon FireTV, Roku, Google Android TV and Vizio!

FOX 26 went to the daycare and contacted the director. She said she is aware of the DFPS investigation and does not want to comment until it is complete.

Data from Texas Health and Human Services shows the daycare has been licensed in Houston since 2021. Records indicate 10 deficiencies were noted at the daycare during that time, but all were resolved by the daycare.

“If you bring your child to daycare, pay attention to the signs,” Jasmine said.

This is an ongoing investigation for HPD and DFPS, no charges have been filed in this case.
