Longtime bistro opens new restaurant in Houston’s East End

Restaurateur in Houston Jonathan Levine eponym Jonathan is the problem is expanding to a third location at 2929 Navigation. It will open on Thursday May 23 at 3 p.m. after an inauguration ceremony at 2:30 p.m. with the Houston East End Chamber of Commerce. It joins the Campbell Place locations at 9090 Katy Freeway, overseen by Jonathan’s son, Satand Memorial Green at 12505 Memorial Drive, operated by Levine’s daughter, Jessica. (Grandson Jayrecently graduated from the Culinary Institute of America, also joined the family business.)

“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to bring our East Coast meets Gulf Coast food and drinks, warm atmosphere and comfortable dining experience to a new neighborhood. and closer to major downtown sports and entertainment complexes,” Levine said via press release.

Thanks to the East End location featuring a pizza oven, a new food category joins Jonathan’s international bistro menu: Brooklyn-style pizza, which is fitting and perhaps even long overdue, since Levine grew up in Brooklyn. These join favorites from an eclectic menu that’s more focused on crowd-pleaser than culinary limitations. The selection of entries includes Dumplings (fried with sweet chili sauce or steamed with ponzu), Meatballs with marinara, Shrimp and Crab Campechana And crab cakes with chipotle aioli and tomato salsa.

Entries include classic steak cuts with a variety of topping optionsTHE Dr Pepper BBQ Pork Chop, redfish with pico de gallo, Fra Diavolo Seafood And The Rub Burger with a patty made from a mixture of chuck, brisket and short ribs. (Speaking of Friction: Grab a pot for the house while you’re at it. This is one of our favorite locally made spice blends.)

The new East End location also offers a bar and patio. If happy hour from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. is similar to what is proposed at other locations, these will be great places to enjoy $9 cocktails, $8 glasses of wine, beers ranging from $5 to $7, and bar bites ranging from $7 to $12.

“We look forward to meeting more of our new East End neighbors in an area with such a rich history and exciting future,” Levine said. “The Memorial community has been great to our family at our first two locations over the past 20 years. »

Early opening hours for Jonathan’s the Rub in the East End are Monday through Thursday 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., Friday and Saturday 3 p.m. to 11 p.m., and Sunday 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. (3 p.m. to 6 p.m. for happy hour at the bar and patio area; dinner in the dining room starts at 4 p.m.)
