Mercy Chefs deploy to Houston after storm hits area

PORTSMOUTH, Va. — Mercy Chefs, a Portsmouth-based nonprofit, expanded to Houston after a storm ravaged the area.

Nearly 200,000 people in and around Houston, Texas, are still without power days after a storm hit the area.

The area’s utility company said it was working to restore lights.

The Mercy Chefs team said they were preparing more than 10,000 meals for those affected, some of whom had not had a hot meal since Thursday evening.
