Atlanta Caribbean Carnival

Atlanta Caribbean Carnival

Every year, Atlanta’s Caribbean community comes together to celebrate Carnival, which is a traditional celebration of the changing of the seasons, the harvest, and an opportunity for people to show their pride in the island they are from.

Every year you will see costumes with huge features and headdresses. The more elaborate the costume, the more important the family and/or family member. Colors are generally representative of your country. Each year a county is also honored and this year is dedicated to Dominica.

Carnival usually takes place in the spring, before Memorial Day weekend, and there are parades, food, music, endless events and much more.

There have already been a number of events leading up to the big weekend, but the Atlanta Caribbean Carnival’s Memorial Day Weekend events will kick off on May 24 with Jouvert and then continue throughout the weekend.
