Water, Ice and Food Distribution Events Monday

Many people in the Houston area are still without power after last week’s deadly storms.

The City of Houston and other organizations have opened distribution centers throughout the city to help those who need assistance during this time.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston

In response to school closures and the needs of area families recovering from last week’s devastating storm, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Houston will open distribution centers in Morefield and Spring Branch.

In partnership with Precinct 4 Commissioner Lesley Briones and the Houston Independent School District Sunrise Center (HISD), BGCGH will open its Morefield Club and Spring Branch Club to provide water and other necessities .

Club Morefield – distribution of food/water/ice at 10 a.m. on May 20 while supplies last.

Spring Branch Club – distribution of food/water/ice from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., May 20 to 22, or until no longer needed.

Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston

Catholic Charities in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston is urgently preparing to provide relief to families and individuals affected by the May 16 severe weather.

Catholic Charities’ Guadalupe Center located at 326 Jensen Drive will open on Monday afternoon May 20. Individuals can obtain emergency food and cleaning supplies.

Additionally, affected individuals can apply for limited financial assistance online at the Catholic Charities website. Case managers review applications daily and are in contact with those seeking help.

Houston ISD and Houston Food Bank

HISD and the Houston Food Bank will host free food and supply distributions at select HISD Sunrise Centers Monday and Tuesday to support families recovering from last week’s severe weather events.

On Monday, May 20, families can visit the Brock Sunrise Center at 1417 Houston Ave. and the Morefield Sunrise Center at 5950 Selinsky Rd., starting at 10 a.m.

On Tuesday, May 21, families can visit the YDC Sunrise Center at 6050 Bretshire Dr. from 9 a.m.

HISD will provide free food and cleaning supplies to 500 families per site.

Kroger Distribution

Kroger is holding a distribution event today to provide affected Houstonians with free water, ice, non-perishable food and cleaning supplies, including mops, brooms and sponges, to aid recovery efforts .

Time: Starts at 3 p.m. and ends at 5 p.m., or while supplies last.
