Falcons announce training camp change for fans in attendance

Head to Atlanta Falcons training camp in late July or early August in Flowery Branch, and fans are often in line hours early, waving flags while wearing their favorite player’s jerseys.

These scenes could still happen in 2024, but not at the Falcons’ IBM Performance Field, which is even nicknamed “Atlanta Falcons Training Camp” on Google Maps.

The Falcons announced Monday morning that fans will not be allowed to attend practices at team headquarters due to ongoing construction at IBM Performance Field.

Still, fans will get to see the Dirty Birds – led by the freshman duo of head coach Raheem Morris and quarterback Kirk Cousins – in action this summer.

Atlanta will host two open sessions, the first on Saturday, July 27 at Seckinger High School in Buford. Entrance for the day is free. This is the Falcons’ first practice at a local high school since 2016, when they attended Grayson High School.

The second open practice will take place on Friday, August 2 at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. Tickets are $5 and all proceeds support Emory Healthcare’s medical programs and treatment services, per release.

While unfortunate for fans hoping to sit in the hills overlooking IBM Performance Field, the wait won’t last long.

“This year’s hosting is only a one-year hiatus due to the construction footprint and the Falcons look forward to welcoming fans back to Flowery Branch in 2025,” according to the release. “More information, including schedules, parking and how to obtain tickets for this year’s two off-site practices, will be announced at a later date.”

The Falcons continued to hold closed-door workouts at IBM Performance Field and will return to the venue Tuesday for OTAs.
