The Atlanta Jazz Festival gears up for a star-studded weekend – WABE

It’s the golden anniversary of Atlanta’s historic jazz radio station, Jazz 91.9 WCLK. The milestone marks the 50th anniversary of the station’s launch at Clark Atlanta University in 1974.

To mark the occasion, the Atlanta Jazz Festival will partner with WCLK to present an all-star celebration concert at Atlanta Symphony Hall on May 24.

The “WCLK at 50” showcase will feature renowned drummer Lil’ John Roberts leading a live supergroup of Atlanta jazz talent, including Kebbi Williams, Joe Gransden, Cleveland Jones, Julie Dexter and more .

Singer Alexandra Jackson, one of the festival’s headliners, joins Lois Reitzes of “City Lights” with Wendy Williams, general manager of Jazz 91.9 WCLK, to discuss the upcoming festival.
