MORGAN’S POINT RESORT / GATESVILLE, Texas (FOX 44) – Some local fire departments are among the many Texas fire departments helping the city of Houston in times of need.

The Morgan’s Point Resort Fire Department and the Turnersville Fire Department are providing humanitarian assistance to those suffering from lack of clean water and the effects of rising temperatures. Monday marks the third straight day of dawn-to-dusk work in Houston’s 5th Precinct.

A powerful and deadly storm hit Houston on Thursday. This resulted in the deaths of seven people, the displacement of hundreds more and the lack of electricity for millions. The Texas Department of Emergency Management said Sunday that more than 450 state responders and 275 resources were being mobilized to affected communities.

Morgan’s Point Resort Fire-Rescue asks the community to pray for all first responders as they continue to care for communities near and far.

Additionally, the Salvation Army of Greater Houston told FOX 44 News it has partnered with the City of Houston Office of Emergency Management to support the large-scale distribution of supplies and food.
