A man who brutally sexually assaulted a woman in her own home in Blackburn has been jailed.

In February 2020, Asim Hussain went to the victim’s apartment and forced himself on her. When she begged him to stop, Hussain said: “It will be over in a few minutes. I really like you. It’s okay.”

The 36-year-old wrote his victim a message the next day and apologized.

Hussain was arrested but denied any wrongdoing and attempted to make a statement that contradicted the evidence against him.

He was charged with rape and later convicted.

Hussain, of Queens Park Road, Blackburn, appeared at Preston Crown Court on Friday where he was sentenced to six years in prison. He was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register for life.

DC Vicky Heys, of Blackburn CID, said: “Hussain carried out this vile attack in the victim’s own home – a place where she was allowed to feel safe. He then constructed a web of lies to undermine the victim’s truthful account and distance himself from any wrongdoing.

“I would like to express my admiration for the courage shown by the victim throughout this process, given the profound and lasting impact that Hussain’s sexual assault has had on her.

“I hope the outcome of this case will encourage other victims to come forward, knowing that they will be believed and listened to, and that we will do everything in our power to bring the perpetrator to justice.”
