In truth, it was a bit of a snooze fest in the first half hour, but the game came alive in the final minutes of the first break thanks to a controversial refereeing decision.

After a superb team move saw Hany Mukhtar get played behind, Atlanta goalkeeper Brad Guzan stormed out of his goal and appeared to overpower the Nashville forward, forcing the referee to award a shot on foot to the guests.

The ensuing penalty was comfortably dispatched by Mukhtar, giving Nashville their first lead of the post-Gary Smith era.

Atlanta, however, responded well after the break, as Bartosz Slisz volleyed home from the edge of the area to level the score and snatch a point from the visitors.
