3 dead after vehicle-train collision in North Tonawanda

Three people in a vehicle were killed after a collision with an Amtrak train Friday evening in North Tonawanda.

Authorities say the accident happened around 8 p.m. Friday at the Felton Street and River Road crossing. River Rd., between Wheatfield St. and Ward Rd., was closed for about seven hours due to the crash, but reopened early Saturday morning, according to NITECC.

Authorities say the vehicle was pushed several hundred feet before coming to a stop.

Amtrak said the train was departing from New York and heading to Niagara Falls.

The names of those killed in this incident have not been released and the investigation continues.
