Chester Woman Arrested for Embezzling Over 9,000 |  News, sports, jobs


NEW CUMBERLAND – A Chester woman has been arrested for embezzling more than $219,000 from a local business.

Jessica Marie Cremeans, 38, was arrested Thursday on a Hancock County Sheriff’s Office warrant and charged with 56 counts of embezzlement. In March, the victim, Smith Oil INC, New Cumberland, filed a lawsuit alleging stolen money from the company totaling $219,191.63.

Cremeans has been charged and is currently being held at the West Virginia Northern Regional Jail on $40,000 bail. A court date has not yet been set.

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office thanked the New Cumberland and Weirton police departments for their assistance in arresting Cremeans.
