Closure of Red Arrow Highway in New Buffalo Township will continue until Monday

Red Arrow Highway in New Buffalo Township will remain closed to traffic until at least Monday.

The Berrien County Highway Department said it hoped to allow traffic in the area again starting Friday, but that did not happen. It says a revised plan with crews working this weekend should result in Red Arrow Highway reopening to one lane of traffic in each direction by the end of the day Monday, May 20. However, this date and time is subject to the progress of the work and weather conditions.

A detour is posted while the highway department completes its project. The department is reconstructing Red Arrow Highway from US-12 to Community Hall Road. Although the overall project will continue until November, there are plans to make traffic on the road possible during the summer.

The work also includes additional construction of the Red Arrow linear trail.
