YMCA Buffalo Niagara Press Release

The YMCA Buffalo Niagara is launching a donation drive starting Friday, May 17 to benefit veterans in Western New York. The Y is seeking donations of the following hygiene products at any of its six wellness centers: deodorant, nail clippers, bar soap, toothpaste and toothbrushes, socks, shampoo and other hair care products.

All donated proceeds will be donated to WNY Heroes, benefiting local men and women who have served in the military. This donation drive runs throughout Memorial Day and all members of the community are encouraged to participate. Donors who wish to participate and are not members of the YMCA will be able to save $50 on a YMCA membership.

A press release adds: “Friday, May 17 is also RED Day, which stands for Remember Everyone Deployed. Every day, more than 170,000 American troops are deployed around the world. The YMCA Buffalo Niagara and its community will honor their sacrifice and the families they leave behind by wearing red in support of our military families.
