Atlanta defined two franchise-defining offseasons in a 4-month span

The Atlanta Falcons have remade themselves in the space of an offseason with a coaching change, a current starting QB, a future starting QB and a draft full of defensive players. If the steps they’ve taken work, they’re poised for sustained success for a long time. The Atlanta Hawks, after winning the NBA draft lottery and securing the No. 1 pick in 2024, are also entering a franchise-defining period.

The Atlanta Hawks’ offseason may have been trending toward rebuilding, but after the unexpected reward of the No. 1 overall draft pick, the mindset may have shifted, and between acquiring a young talent high profile in the draft and possibly acquiring other young talents and Thanks to the likely trade of a point guard, the Atlanta Hawks could also be prepared for an offseason that could allow them to win at short and in the long term if they make the right decisions.

For two Atlanta teams that have both been disappointing over the past three seasons, the Falcons and Hawks are both hoping the 2024 offseason will be considered a franchise-defining one that has led both teams quickly to a level high level of success.
