CenterPoint reports 1 million outages;  map, tracker

More than a million people were left without power in the Houston area after Thursday night’s severe weather, according to CenterPoint Energy.

CenterPoint said several of its facilities in the area were damaged. The company said it would begin restoration efforts Thursday evening and intensify in the morning when the damage becomes more visible during the day.

As of Friday morning, hundreds of thousands of people were still without power.

Here’s how many outages have been reported, how to view the outage map, and how to report an outage at your home.

FRIDAY

From 9:15 a.m., there was 726,548 customers affected by outages in the Houston area.

From 7:30 a.m., there was 728 745 customers affected by outages in the Houston area.

From 6:15 a.m., there was 731,906 customers affected by outages in the Houston area.

THURSDAY

At 8:53 p.m. there was 893 182 customers affected by outages in the Houston area.

At 8:41 p.m. there was 896,558 customers affected by outages in the Houston area.

At 8:11 p.m. there was 898 270 customers affected by outages in the Houston area.

From 7:30 p.m., there was 879,228 customers affected by outages in the Houston area.

From 7:05 p.m., there was 781 155 customers affected by outages in the Houston area.

From 6:50 p.m., there was 632 226 customers affected by outages in the Houston area.

At 6:44 p.m. there was 477 207 customers affected by outages in the Houston area.

From 6:40 p.m., there was 342,577 customers affected by outages in the Houston area.

From 6:30 p.m., there was 195,902 customers affected by outages in the Houston area.

We contacted the company and received this statement:

“Several of our facilities were damaged in the Houston area service territory. As the line of severe weather has moved through our area, our crews can now safely begin to assess the damage, but we can confirm that we have sustained damage. significant damage to our system. Restoration efforts will begin this evening, but will intensify throughout the day as damage becomes more visible. We are committed to restoring power to our customers as safely and quickly as possible.

When restoring power, we start with facilities vital to safety, health and well-being, such as hospitals, water treatment plants and utility facilities. While addressing key installations, we are following our priority restoration process by making repairs to electrical installations that will first restore power to the greatest number of customers. We then continue the restoration process by prioritizing repairs to benefit the greatest number of customers, until power is restored to all. Throughout the restoration process, we remain in contact with local emergency management agencies, media and public officials.

We would like to remind our customers to stay at least 35 feet away from low, fallen power lines or lines that may be in standing water and to call 911 and report them to us at 713-207-2222“.
