Contents of closed Amherst Red Lobster sold for just $12,000

BUFFALO, N.Y. — The winning bidder in an online auction that ended today can purchase the entire contents of the Red Lobster restaurant on Maple Road for just $12,000.

The auction was one of about 50 launched nationwide on May 13, just hours after the restaurant chain abruptly closed dozens of stores without notice to employees.

Sales in other markets varied widely, with a winning bid in Myrtle Beach of $9,600; $7,850 in Dublin, Georgia; $10,600 in Council Bluffs, Iowa; $8,300 in Gathersburg, Maryland; and $12,500 in Williamsburg, Virginia. And then there’s Gainesville, Florida, where the bidding went for $40,300.

Considering this to be the largest restaurant equipment auction ever, TagexBrands.com and RestaurantEquipment.bid auctioned the contents of the locations in a winner-takes-all model. Each winner received the entire contents, other than perishables and alcohol, of the location they bid on.
