Caeleb Dressel has felt comfortable in the outer lanes over the past two Pro Series meets, but he’s back in the center of the pool for the 100 freestyle final. Dressel led the way ahead of a flurry of Gator teammates with a 48.67, which was the fastest preliminary time he has swum since returning to the sport. After beating his personal best by a hundredth in the preliminaries (48.75), Jorge Iga might give him a challenge, but he’ll have to keep the Gators Julian Smith (49.15) and Macguire McDuff (49.25) at bay.

Newly named to her second Olympic team, Mona McSharry achieved the best time of the morning in the women’s 100m breaststroke. McSharry broke away from the pack, pulling away for a 1:06.91 effort. His Tennessee teammate Emelie Rapide is the closest to her (1:08.61) but it will take a big effort to find McSharry. Both Vols really pushed the pace this morning — no one else was under 1:09 while Zoie Hartman (1:09.99) and Ava DeAngelis—who clocked her first Olympic Trials time of 1:10.29—touched third and fourth.

After the 200 fly, the session ends with the 400 free. In the women’s race, Katie Ledecky looks to build on the momentum from her 1500 free yesterday, where she won in a world record time. She has been as fast as 4:01.41 this season, which currently places her at 4th in the world. Seek Bella Sims come out fast and try to hold on against Ledecky and a field reminiscent of an SEC championship field with not only her teammate Emma Weyant in the mix but also a handful of members of the Georgia distance team.

The Florida men showed depth in the men’s 400 freestyle, taking the top four spots in the preliminaries. Alphonse Mestre (3:51.57) is located just ahead Kieran Smith (3:51.73). Jake Mitchell is within earshot of the couple, as is Bobby Finke, who went all the way to the 400m freestyle for a little light sprint work. Yesterday, Finke swam the first sub-15 minute 1500 free of his career to win the event.
