Toronto FC coach John Herdman and goalkeeper Sean Johnson are suspended against Nashville

Toronto FC coach John Herdman, goalkeeper Sean Johnson and defender Richie Laryea have all been suspended for their roles in an on-field altercation with New York City FC following last Saturday’s game at BMO Field, Major League Soccer’s disciplinary committee announced Wednesday known.

The guests won 3:2.

Herdman, Johnson and Laryea were all excluded from Wednesday night’s visit to Nashville. Striker Prince Owusu, who received a red card at the end of the game, will also not be available for the Reds. Laryea’s suspension is moot as the Canadian right-back is sidelined with a hamstring injury.

New York City defender Strahinja Tanasijevic also received a red card and will be out when his team visits Philadelphia Union.

In addition to Wednesday’s rulings, there could be more discipline. The MLS Disciplinary Committee says it continues to review Saturday’s incident and those involved for further disciplinary action and will announce the full findings and sanctions at a later date.
