match-by-match predictions for the upcoming season

match-by-match predictions for the upcoming season

The NFL kept everyone guessing for a while by not announcing when the schedule would be revealed, but it eventually came out. Buffalo will have its work cut out for it in 2024 and will have to fight if it wants to defend its AFC East division title. They drew the NFC West division, which includes three teams with winning schedules in 2023, including the San Francisco 49ers.

Buffalo also has both Super Bowl participants on the schedule, the Kansas City Chiefs and 49ers. Additionally, they face the Detroit Lions and the Houston Texans. The game against the Texans will be fun with Stefon Diggs on the opposing team’s sideline. Sure, the AFC East appears to be one of the toughest divisions in the league.

Week 1: Sun 09/08 · 1:00 p.m. EDT
Buffalo Bills vs. Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals should get Kyler Murray for a full season, and they’ll be better than he was in 2023; however, they are not yet at the level of the Bills. I have the Bills winning another home game. Bills, 34 – 13.

Week 2: Thursday, September 12 at 8:15 p.m. EDT
Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins may have the fastest offense in the NFL, but they have issues in the trenches and an above-average quarterback at best. Miami gets swept by Buffalo again. Bills win, 27 – 21.

Week 3: Mon. 09/23 · 7:30 p.m. EDT
Buffalo Bills vs. Jacksonville Jaguars

Josh Allen and the Bills have lost two straight games to the Jaguars, losing both by a total of eight points. Buffalo will also face one of their former receivers, Gabe Davis. Can they break this losing streak? The AFC will be tougher than ever, and every win against an AFC opponent will be vital. Bills win, 31 – 20.

Week 4: Sunday 09/29 · 8:20 p.m. EDT
Buffalo Bills vs. Baltimore Ravens

The Bills still seem to be playing Lamar Jackson and the Ravens very well. The only area where this could change is not having Jordan Poyer and potentially Micah Hyde in the defensive backfield. How much of a factor was their matchup against Jackson? I’ll stick with recent history until the Ravens prove otherwise. Bills win, 27 – 24.

Week 5: Sun 10/06 · 1:00 p.m. EDT
Buffalo Bills vs. Houston Texans

I can’t wait to see this one, for obvious reasons. This game pits former Bills wide receiver Stefon Diggs against Buffalo. You know Josh Allen will want to have one of his best games of the season against the Texans. Allen has a huge game and Buffalo makes a statement. Bills win, 37 – 27.

Week 6: Monday 10/14 · 8:15 p.m. EDT
Buffalo Bills vs. New York Jets

I’m sticking with my initial thought here, which was that the Bills split the season with the Jets in a fight for the division title. Every team wins at home, so this one goes to the Jets. The Jets win 21 to 13.

Week 7: Sun. 10/20 · 1:00 p.m. EDT
Buffalo Bills vs. Tennessee Titans

The Titans are not the same team as in years past and Derrick Henry is no longer a Titan, but they have added new pieces in L’Jarius Sneed, Tyler Boyd and Tony Pollard. Still, I think Buffalo gets the win. Bills, 27 – 23.

Week 8: Sun. 10/27 · 4:05 p.m. EDT
Buffalo Bills vs. Seattle Seahawks

I’ll be at this game, so look out for it in a big crowd of Bills fans, since I’m bringing the whole family. Let’s hope Buffalo comes away with a win, so far the Bills are undefeated when I’m here. Bills win 35 to 17.

Week 9: Sun 03/11 · 1:00 p.m. EST
Buffalo Bills vs. Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins had a ton of turnovers, especially defensively. Tua is not elite and their offensive line will struggle. Buffalo swept the Dolphins last season and stole the division at season’s end. I don’t see Miami as a threat in the division. Bills win, 37 – 23.

Week 10: Sun 11/10 · 1:00 p.m. EST
Buffalo Bills vs. Indianapolis Colts

Anthony Richardson returns this season for the Colts, but with only a few games of NFL experience under his belt, will he be ready to take the next step? The Colts are a solid football team and caused team problems last season with Gardener Minshew under center. There is almost always at least one game that a team inexplicably loses, and this is one of them. Colts win, 24 – 20.

Week 11: Sun 11/17 · 4:25 p.m. EST
Buffalo Bills vs. Kansas City Chiefs

Buffalo finally gets the Chiefs at home in the regular season, but that doesn’t seem to matter much in the playoffs. Either way, Buffalo seems to be playing better against the Chiefs in the regular season, and that doesn’t change. Bills win, 24 – 23.

Week 12: Goodbye

Week 13: Sun 01/12 · 8:20 p.m. EST
Buffalo Bills vs. San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers will be a tough test for the Bills, but Buffalo will fight and give San Francisco a hard time. When the final whistle blows, I think Buffalo fails in this one. Buffalo will be tough at home, but the 49ers end up winning. 49ers, 24-21.

Week 14: Sun 08/12 · 4:25 p.m. EST
Buffalo Bills vs. Los Angeles Rams

The Los Angeles Rams could be a solid team in 2024, but with Aaron Donald retiring, their defense isn’t going to scare off too many teams. Matthew Stafford has struggled with injuries since the Rams’ Super Bowl win, and I’m not sure how much he has left in the tank. Bills win 33 to 20.

Week 15: Sun 12/15 · 4:25 p.m. EST
Buffalo Bills vs. Detroit Lions

The last two times the Bills and Lions faced off, the battles were hotly contested. The Lions are one of the best teams in the NFC and I think they steal this one from the Bills. the Lions victory, 31 – 28.

Week 16: Sun 12/22 · 1:00 p.m. EST
Buffalo Bills vs. New England Patriots

This might be the easiest opponent on the Bills schedule. The Patriots are in the middle of a rebuild and it will take a few seasons. New rookie quarterback Drake Maye was my favorite QB in this class, but now I’m hoping I’m wrong. Either way, the Bills win. Bills, 33 – 17.

Week 17: Sunday 12/29 · 1:00 p.m. EST
Buffalo Bills vs. New York Jets

The Jets will be Buffalo’s biggest threat to win the division. Assuming Aaron Rodgers is fully recovered from his Achilles injury and remains healthy, the Jets will be a tough opponent for anyone. They also always give Josh Allen trouble. All of this is to say the Bills will win, but I think they probably split the season series. Bills, 23 – 21.

Week 18: TBD
Buffalo Bills vs. New England Patriots

I don’t see the Patriots struggling against many teams this season. I like Drake Maye as a quarterback, but there will be some growing pains, including working with two rookie quarterbacks. Buffalo dominates the Patriots again. Bills win 38 to 10.
