Parham Bridges shooting suspect arrested after police chase

JACKSON, Miss. (WLBT) – A suspect was arrested in connection with a shooting at Parham Bridges Park after a short chase.

Jackson Police Chief Joseph Wade confirms that a man wanted in the shooting death of Melvin McNair Jr. was arrested Wednesday afternoon after the suspect was spotted in the victim’s stolen truck.

A police chase ensued in which the suspect crashed the vehicle into a pole near a Jackson fire station.

A second vehicle was destroyed during the chase.

Both JPD and Capitol Police responded to the scene.

Chief Wade is expected to hold a press conference this afternoon to provide further details.
