Amherst City Council cancels $11 million theater bond

Amherst City Council cancels million theater bond

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — After the Amherst City Council approved an $11 million bond to build a community theater in Amherst Central Park, plans are now on hold.

The board of directors decided Monday evening to cancel the bond action.

This follows the board’s approval in March of the bond, which would be used to build a facility for the MusicalFare Theater.

A special election was scheduled for late July or early August after a petition with more than 4,300 verified signatures was delivered to the city clerk’s office last month.

The city council’s decision Monday night cancels the bond action for at least this year.
