A semi-truck accident on I-39 brings traffic to a standstill

ROCKFORD, Ill. (WIFR) – A crash on Interstate 39 is causing a major traffic backup Tuesday evening.

Two semi-trailers were involved in the accident. One was seen in the central ditch, the other in the side ditch facing north.

According to the Cherry Valley Fire Department, one person was taken to a hospital for their injuries. Illinois State Police also responded to the scene.

There are traffic jams in both lanes. The Cherry Valley Fire Department is asking drivers to slow down and watch for delays.
