How Gas Prices Changed in Buffalo Last Week

Gasoline prices have fallen slightly for the past three consecutive weeks, providing some relief at the pump for drivers. Over the past week, the national average for a gallon of gasoline has fallen by about 3 cents.

That national average is still about 10 cents higher than the same period in 2023. Analysts say gas prices could continue to fall heading into Memorial Day weekend, and oil market activity indicates that barrel prices could fall further.

“The price decline could potentially accelerate after last week’s jobs data showed the economy continues to cool,” Patrick De Haan, an analyst at GasBuddy, said Monday. “Although gasoline prices are slightly higher than last year, I expect most Americans will see prices fall before the holiday weekend, and I am optimistic that the trend could extend until June and beyond.”

Stacker compiled gas price statistics in the Buffalo-Niagara Falls, New York, metro area using AAA data. Gas prices are in effect as of May 13.
