Man dies in fire accident in Campbell County

CAMPBELL COUNTY, Va. (WDBJ) – A Concord man has been identified as the victim of a car crash early Wednesday.

According to Virginia State Police, Devren B. Atkins, 21, died at the scene of a crash in the 4600 block of Brookneal Highway/Route 501 in Campbell County at 12:57 a.m. on September 18, 2024.

According to police, Atkins was driving a Cadillac Escalade northbound when he crossed the center line, veered off the left side of the road and struck a tree. The Escalade then caught fire.

The crash remains under investigation.
