HOUSTON, Miss. (WTVA) – A Houston educator has received the Veterans of Foreign War’s highest honor.

Stacey Chapman, who teaches English at Houston Middle School, was surprised to receive the Smart/Maher VFW National Citizenship Education Teacher Award.

This award recognizes the nation’s top teachers for their exceptional commitment to teaching students Americanism and patriotism by promoting civic responsibility and flag etiquette.

The local VFW chapter encourages the community to get involved in this exciting opportunity to recognize teachers who sacrifice so much to teach students in the Chickasaw County School District.
