Is it going to rain today | Atlanta weather radar

ATLANTA — After a wonderful Mother’s Day weekend, unsettled weather is returning to north Georgia for the work week.

We are tracking a parade of systems that will bring a risk of showers and storms to northern Georgia. Since Monday, the only day without the risk of rain forecast this week is Thursday.

Areas of light rain and scattered showers will continue through Monday afternoon. On Tuesday, the chance of rain increases to 80%, with a few areas of rain in the morning and a few thunderstorms later in the day. We will watch for isolated showers/storms on Wednesday. Then, to round out the week, more showers and thunderstorms are possible from Friday to Saturday.

Over the next seven days, rain totals could range from 1 to 3 inches on average, and these amounts could be higher in central Georgia. Below is the current model precipitation comparison, with both showing isolated totals of over 4″ south of I-20.

Day-to-day weather forecast

Monday

Light rain showers and areas of light stratiform rain spread across the region in the morning. For the afternoon, most of the heavy rain and storms will be focused over southern Georgia. During this time, we will continue to watch for showers and possibly a storm in areas south of I-20.

Isolated showers may persist this evening, but many areas will dry out.

Tuesday

Some areas of rain and embedded storms move into the area in the morning. Sometimes the rain can be quite widespread.

After a few calms early in the afternoon, other scattered showers and thunderstorms develop late in the afternoon and evening.

With the atmosphere having a few drier hours before storms develop late in the day, temperatures are expected to rebound to around 80°C. This will provide a little more energy for storms. An isolated strong or violent storm with gusty winds will be possible. The Storm Prediction Center has placed our region at a Level 1 Severe Weather Threat for this period.

Wednesday

Behind the front, isolated showers and thunderstorms could still develop on Wednesday with a northwest wind. We do not expect these tensions to become strong or serious.

THURSDAY

This will be our only completely dry day! Expect mostly sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-80s.

Friday

The next storm system arrives Friday evening, bringing another round of showers and storms to the area. Right now we have a 60% chance of rain for the day.

SATURDAY

Showers and thunderstorms are still possible Saturday morning until early afternoon.
