PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – Although several mistakes contributed to the Steelers’ loss to the Texans on Friday, undrafted rookie cornerback Beanie Bishop was impressive to many.

The Steelers failed, losing to Houston 20-12 on Friday at Acrisure Stadiumbut Bishop was one of the highlights of the match.

“He’s a feisty little guy,” Steelers defensive coordinator Teryl Austin said. “We got a chance to see that when he came in and attacked the running back and kind of pushed him around.”

The former West Virginia University Mountaineer has been described as “fiery” on several occasions.

Bishop says that while it may have been his first NFL game, he still got to play with a spirited team.

“I never let go of the ball,” Bishop said. “Even when I’m done playing. I always have a good head on my shoulders, just because of the way I grew up and stuff like that. It’s just something that never leaves me.”

“He’s in the running to be the starting cornerback, so that’s a good thing,” Austin added.

The Steelers will continue their preseason on Saturday when they host the Buffalo Bills.

Kick-off at Acrisure Stadium is scheduled for 7 p.m. and you can watch the game on KDKA-TV.
