Afton man dies in crash Sunday evening on Afton Mountain Road

AFTON, VA (CVILLE NOW) – An Afton man was killed in a fatal single-vehicle crash on Afton Mountain Road south of Afton Sunday evening, according to state police. According to police, around 6:40 p.m. Sunday evening, 65-year-old Philip R. Pugh was driving a 2005 Chevy Tahoe eastbound near Williams Creek Lane when he drove off the right side of the road. The vehicle continued into a ditch, where it struck a culvert and overturned. Pugh, who was not wearing a seat belt, died at the scene.

The crash is under investigation.
