Meeting for Proposals for Light Rail Expansion in WNY

Meeting for Proposals for Light Rail Expansion in WNY

Three proposals for new light rail transit lines in Buffalo will be unveiled at a public meeting Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the parish hall of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, 15 Fernhill Ave.

The proposals, developed by the University at Buffalo’s Small Built Works program and Citizens for Regional Transit, involve lines that would serve popular neighborhoods and destinations between downtown Buffalo and Buffalo Niagara International Airport, including the Erie County Medical Center, Central Terminal, Larkinville and the Walden Gallery.

They include an airport line connecting the central business district to the airport, a Belt Line route that would use the rail corridor that already connects areas in a circle around the city, and a Kensington line that would extend from the Belt Line at the airport along the border. Kensington Expressway.

The presentation will include a map display, renderings of stations on the routes and a question period. The meeting can also be joined remotely on Microsoft Teams via citizenstransit.org/meeting.
