Former Sabres player brings Stanley Cup to Lewiston Tuesday

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — The Stanley Cup is coming to Western New York.

But no, it’s not because the Sabres won the Stanley Cup.

Rick Dudley, a senior adviser to the Florida Panthers and former Sabre, will bring Lord Stanley to Lewiston Tuesday as part of his day with the Cup after Florida won its first-ever title in June, defeating the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Final.

Dudley will present the cup at Griffon Gastropub in Lewiston from 5 to 9 p.m. Tuesday for fans to view and take pictures with.

Dudley played for the Sabres from 1972-75 and again from 1978-81 before returning as the team’s head coach in 1989 and coaching until 1991. He currently resides in Lewiston.

“I think it’s the people,” Dudley said Monday. “There are some amazing places around here. I live in Lewiston, it’s a beautiful place.”

You can watch Dudley’s full interview from Monday morning in the video player above.
