After a disappointing 1-1 draw against Charlotte FC and with the MLS All-Star Game approaching, the team is looking to end this regular season streak with one more win.

More: Columbus Crew fails to capitalize on opportunities against Charlotte FC in 1-1 draw

Columbus will face Atlanta United at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Saturday, the team the Crew has played the most since coach Wilfried Nancy took over, starting in the 2023 season. In addition to two scheduled regular-season games, Columbus and Atlanta met in the first round of three MLS Cup Playoffs last year and then in their first game of the 2024 regular season.

But it’s nearly five months since the Crew last met Atlanta, and both teams have seen roster changes. Crew lost Aidan Morris and Atlanta traded designated players Thiago Almada and Giorgos Giakoumakis. But forward Cucho Hernandez still sees Atlanta as a club Columbus “knows” well and could bounce back against, even if it’s not with a strong offensive performance.

“It’s difficult sometimes, especially for the forwards,” Hernandez said. “All the time, in every game, we want to score a lot of goals, five, six goals. But sometimes football is like that, we have to learn to win games 1-0 too.”
